(ThePatriotWire)- A disturbing trend within the U.S. Navy indicates that at the time of President Biden’s assumption of office, the living conditions and mental health of the military branch has decreased, leading to desertions and increased rates of suicide.
More than twice as many sailors reportedly deserted their post in 2021 compared to 2019. A May report by NBC showed that 157 sailors deserted last year, up from the 98 in 2020 and 63 in 2019. Navy officials could not point to a singular answer regarding the trend but attribute the rise to “many different stressors.”
One such stressor is the living conditions. Enlisted sailors have put up with a deteriorating quality of life. Those stationed at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center reported to go without hot water or air conditioning for months.
In a span of ten months, ten sailors stationed abord an aircraft carrier under constant construction committed suicide, according to Military.com. The suicides prompted officials to move all sailors who wished to go off of the carrier into barracks.
After visiting the carrier in April, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Russell Smith sarcastically dealt with sailors asking about living conditions, saying that the Navy “probably could have done better to manage your expectations coming in here.”
“What you’re not doing is sleeping in a foxhole like a Marine might be doing,” he added.
Sailors commented on the conditions, saying that “There’s grinding, needle gunning, there’s always problems with ventilation, there’s always problems with hot water.”
Three commanders were relieved of their duties in June for what was described as a “loss of confidence.”
The mental health of the enlisted sailors is not much of a concern to the branch’s officers and comes at a time when the Biden administration is pursuing critical race theory and gender ideology.

Last year, Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Michael Gilday published a reading list that included debunked, anti-American books such as “How to be an Anti-Racist.”
The Navy is not the only branch to undergo woke ideological training. The U.S. Army has also come under attack in the last couple years from its “Operation Inclusion” to its “Equity and Inclusion Agency.”
It comes as no surprise that the U.S. military is undergoing a severe recruitment issue, leading to an active duty Army of the lowest size since World War II.
