RNC to Remain “Neutral” if Trump Runs in 2024

by admin

There is no denying that the 2020 presidential election did not result in the outcome most Republicans wanted. Barring the Never Trumpers, the vast majority of the Republican Party backed Trump’s election for a second term.

With Joe Biden now in the White House, Republicans and conservatives couldn’t be more eager to see him leave. From the 46th president’s oil & gas leasing restrictions, return to the Paris Climate Accord, dissolution of Keystone XL pipeline, and more, the political right is not pleased.

Some names to come up as possible 2024 GOP contenders are Ron DeSantis, Kristi Noem, and of course, Donald Trump. However, Breitbart News reports that should Trump make another run for the presidency in the next election, the Republican National Committee shall remain “neutral.”

The RNC on the 2024 Presidential Election

During an Associated Press interview yesterday, RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel discussed the future of the GOP. McDaniel explained that the Republican committee will ultimately “stay neutral” regarding potential candidates for the 2024 GOP nomination.

In regards to Trump, McDaniel expressed Republicans’ very clear interest in the former president helping the party regain the House and Senate majorities. In relation to the next presidential election cycle, McDaniel explained that the chosen GOP nominee will ultimately be “up to those candidates.”

Aides and spokespersons for the 45th president have already affirmed his commitment to helping the GOP regain power in Congress. Days ago, Trump even established an “Office of the Former President” that will help him in his future political work.

Will Trump Run for President in 2024?

A significant majority of the Republican Party still supports President Trump. As such, many conservatives would be extremely happy to see him run for office again.

Whether or not the 45th president seeks re-election in the 2024 cycle ultimately remains to be seen. However, Trump is reported to have privately conveyed to aides his interest in running for president again.

The possibility of a Trump 2024 run is yet another reason why Democrats seek a White House impeachment trial. Should the 45th president face conviction, this would bar him from another presidential run; however, multiple Republican senators have already warned that the impeachment trial will not result in a conviction of the 45th president.
