The RNC to Discuss Expelling Cheney and Kinzinger

(ThePatriotWire) – In the wake of the January 2021 impeachment of then-President Donald Trump, anti-Trump Republicans continue to find themselves on the outside looking in. Two such Republicans have endured the mounting ire of the GOP over their votes to impeach Trump.

Both Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) were censured and rebuked by their state and local GOP parties. In Cheney’s case, the Wyoming GOP went as far as to stop recognizing her as a member. Both are currently serving as the only two Republicans on the partisan House Select Committee investigating January 6, and their actions there continue to widen the schism between themselves and the GOP.

Now, Republicans are circulating a new document calling for the expulsion of the two anti-Trumpers from the House GOP. The resolution sponsors say their desire to remove the two Republicans is due to their participation on the House Select Committee and their efforts to harm former President Trump. Some say Cheney and Kinzinger should be helping Republicans win the House and Senate this fall instead of aiding Democrats on the committee.

Some Republicans are opposing the measure. They say the GOP should be focused on criticizing Democrats over their disastrous record as the primary season heats up ahead of the looming 2022 midterm elections.

It’s unknown if Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel supports the resolution. For their part, both Cheney and Kinzinger remain defiant against Trump Republicans. Cheney accused the former president’s supporters of protecting him. Kinzinger hasn’t responded to the resolution but remains firmly in the anti-Trump camp.

Stay tuned. Who knows how this situation may unfold in the days ahead!
