White House Preparing to Dole Out Racial Reparations

by admin

The American left, for quite some time now, has gotten behind the notion that monetary reparations should be given to black Americans as a result of slavery from centuries ago. The leftist support for reparations comes in spite of the reality that no African-Americans today ever suffered or lived through slavery.

There’s been talk about reparations for some time, but it’s never really gone anywhere. However, with the Biden administration in the White House for the next few years, reparations could become much more relevant.

According to Breitbart News, the Biden White House is preparing to “act” on the provision of reparations for black Americans.

The Biden Administration on Racial Reparations

According to a senior adviser for the Biden administration, the president will not wait for Congress to approve a commission on reparations.

Instead, the current White House will “act now” and work to break down what they call “barriers” and “systemic racism” that is allegedly blocking racial minorities from achieving success in America. One of the policies that Biden intends to push for involves tuition-free college for historically black colleges and universities.

In February, the White House also indicated that President Biden supports a probe into whether or not descendants of African-American slaves should be given reparations.

Political Pushback Against Reparations in America

Like many other issues in the country, Republicans and Democrats are broadly divided on their perception of reparations. Democrats argue that reparations are necessary to right the wrongs of the past; however, Republicans have a very different perspective.

GOP Rep. Burgess Owens of Utah expressed his own grievances against reparations last month. Owens stated that racial reparations are a “non-starter” and not the right way to deal with historical wrongs. Likewise, the Utah Republican affirmed that leading African-Americans to view reparations as feasible is “heartless” and simply not fair.

In the days, weeks, and months to come, the nation should prepare to hear more about reparations proposals. With the Biden administration in charge, this is something they will push for; moreover, at least the majority of congressional Democrats will undoubtedly back the president’s support for racial reparations in the United States.

What is your viewpoint on reparations in America? Are you for or against reparations being paid to African-Americans? How do you think a proposal such as this one would be funded? Let us know what you’re thinking in the comments section below.
