(ThePatriotWire)- According to a report from Wednesday’s edition of the Telegraph, Boris Johnson is reportedly giving serious thought to making a bid to win back his old job as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (PM) barely 45 days after he resigned from that post.
The report states that some members of the Conservative Party have expressed their support for Johnson in the wake of the resignation of former Prime Minister Liz Truss. Johnson is presently leading in the polls with the support of a third of the Conservative Party. According to the publication, Johnson is reportedly open to the idea of running for office once more, provided that he has the backing of at least one hundred members of parliament (MP).
A member of Parliament asked, “Is he up for the challenge?”
They said that if he can be convinced that the numbers exist, the answer is yes.
Nadine Dorries, who served as Johnson’s Secretary of State before his election as prime minister, voiced her approval of her former boss by tweeting that members of parliament should “demand” Johnson’s return.
In one of her tweets, Dorries wrote, “If Liz Truss is no longer Prime Minister, there can be no coronation of previously failed candidates.” It is unfathomable that we could proceed to present ourselves in front of the rest of the world with the pretense that we are a democracy.
According to the Washington Post, if Johnson decides to run for office, he will most likely compete against the Conservative MP Rishi Sunak. Sunak was the person who initially took the initiative to call for Johnson’s resignation, and he later attempted to challenge Johnson for his job but was unsuccessful.
According to the site, Troy MPs Penny Mordaunt and Ben Wallace are both anticipated to run for office.
Truss announced her resignation on Thursday, only six weeks after taking office in the wake of widespread outrage over a tax proposal that precipitated a steep decline in market value at a time when the nation is grappling with a 40-year high in the cost of living.
