(ThePatriotWire)- A new UN assessment says it’s “reasonable to conclude” that Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities have been subjected to China’s forced labor camps and further harsh punishment.
There’s also an allegation that the Uyghurs, a Muslim minority, are victims of genocide by the Chinese government.
Tomoya Obokata, the U.N. special envoy, compared forced labor among Uyghurs, Kazakhs, and other ethnic groups to a current form of slavery, particularly in agriculture and industries.
Obokata also detailed China’s dual-system approach to classifying Uyghurs and others in forced labor situations: vocational skills education and training center system, under which minorities are detained and subjected to work placements and poverty alleviation through a labor transfer system, where surplus rural laborers are transferred into secondary or tertiary sector work.
The Chinese government’s practices in Xinjiang have been the subject of global attention for years.
More than a million Muslims, predominantly Uyghurs, have been jailed in “reeducation” centers in the previous five years, according to Newsweek.
In 2020, China’s top envoy in London reportedly declared the centers were “in conformity with the principles and the spirit” of U.N. documents. The administration also stated concerns concerning forced labor were a misunderstanding of its poverty reduction policies.
Last month, Newsmax host Greta Van Susteren interviewed Rushan Abbas, a human rights campaigner who has spoken out against China’s suspected Uyghur detention camps.
Great asked the guest what goes on inside Uyghur camps.
Abbas said the most awful things you can imagine are happening, adding that camp captives are compelled to give up ethnicity and religion.
They are forbidden to speak their language. They are compelled to speak Chinese. He’s also heard reports of captives being brainwashed in Chinese political doctrine.
Abbas said they’re subject to inhumane treatment, adding that inmates are routinely denied food, drink, and sleep. Poor hygiene results from 40 to 50 people being crammed into one room.
The detainees aren’t given enough water, and the lack of food, water, sleep, and decent restroom facilities tests “how long the internal organs can last.”
Abbas estimates there are more than three million Uyghur inmates or 25% of the whole Uyghur population in China. And today, the streets are empty among the general populace.”
The Chinese government, which doesn’t tolerate ideological religion and calls it a “mental sickness,” has razed mosques and other religious buildings.
They’ve declared war on Islam.
