(ThePatriotWire)- According to new research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a record number of youngsters are now being admitted to hospitals with common colds because of weaker immune systems.
The CDC discovered that, in August 2021, when lockdowns, masks, and social isolation peaked, a historically high proportion of inpatients under 18 were suffering from common diseases.
According to the statistics, the number of youngsters with respiratory ailments over the summer is at an all-time high. The numbers were more in keeping with December.
Hospitals in seven states, including Washington, Texas, New York, and Ohio, provided the data for compilation.
Dr. Scott Roberts, a medical director at Yale University, commented on the findings and claimed that lockdowns affected kids’ capacity to develop immunity to common infections.
The doctor said the delay gives the viruses time to mutate further and create more severe sickness, adding that “there are two consequences to this.”
He said the immunity developed against those infections will have diminished, making the immunological response considerably less. Kids are experiencing “continuous illnesses,” including his son.
The CDC data is in line with findings by Yale experts who cautioned that it is unusual to encounter youngsters with a concoction of seven common viruses, including COVID-19, adenovirus, rhinovirus, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), human metapneumovirus, influenza, and parainfluenza.
