(ThePatriotWire)- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was one of the keynote speakers at the third annual National Conservatism Conference, or Natcon 3, in Miami earlier this month.
While the annual Florida conference was originally launched to promote the America First agenda advanced by former President Donald Trump, at this year’s event, Trump was not a speaker.
The conference speakers also included billionaire Peter Thiel, Senators Josh Hawley, Rick Scott, and Marco Rubio, as well as conservative media figures Josh Hammer and Mollie Hemingway.
Business Insider’s Kimberly Leonard took great delight in Trump’s absence.
In a column last week, Leonard could barely contain her glee in pointing out that the former president was hardly mentioned during Natcon 3.
For the Democrats and their media handmaids, Trump must remain the center of attention in the Republican Party. He is the millstone they hope to tie around the party’s neck in the midterm elections. So it drives them batty when a conservative event isn’t a non-stop love-fest to Trump.
Sure, Leonard concedes that the issues discussed at Natcon 3 are the same “America First” policies Donald Trump promoted during his campaign. But the conference also diverged into issues Trump rarely promoted, namely the traditional family and an embrace of Judeo-Christian Western culture.
The purpose of Leonard’s piece cannot be overstated.
Her goal, along with the corporate media as a whole, is to drive a wedge between the Trump faithful and the rest of the Republican base.
When Republicans are fighting among themselves, the Democrats benefit.
Don’t let them get away with it.
The fact that the America First movement is continuing to thrive and grow beyond Donald Trump isn’t a bad thing at all.
If a movement relies on only one man, it will die out quickly.
The Natcon 3 event showed that the movement doesn’t rest entirely on the shoulders of one man. There are others who are willing and able to take up the fight.
That is crucial for the survival of the America First movement.
