(ThePatriotWire)- A judge granted New York Attorney General Letitia James’ request that an independent monitor oversees the Trump Organization’s submission of financial information, according to The Epoch Times.
The New York attorney general filed a civil lawsuit against the former president, three of his children, and others, alleging “years of financial fraud to obtain a host of economic benefits.” Trump has denied the fraud and called the suit a politically motivated attack.
New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron approved James’ request and has also blocked Trump from moving any non-cash assets to a new company he formed. James asserts that Trump formed “Trump Organization II LLC” on the same day that she filed the suit.
She also asked for an independent monitor to be named in the case to oversee financial disclosures. The former president and his team will have until November 10 to suggest their nominations and until November 15 to submit comments on the candidates.
“This court will appoint an independent monitor, to be paid by defendants, for the purpose of ensuring compliance with this order,” Engoron wrote in the order.
“If the monitor reasonably determines that defendants have violated this order, the monitor shall immediately report that matter to [Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York], defendants, and this Court.”
James has lauded the decision saying it will prevent Trump and his companies from engaging in any more fraud. But the former president has come out on his social media platform against the recent decision, calling it communism.
“A puppet judge of the New York Attorney General and other sworn enemies of President Trump and the Republican Party has just issued a ruling never before seen anywhere in America,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “It is Communism come to our shores.”
He added that businesses will flee the state like they already are as a result of the attack, calling for the country to be saved from “radical tyranny.”
In response to the lawsuit filed against him, Trump has filed a lawsuit of his own against the attorney general, alleging that James contravened New York and Florida law to wage a “war of intimidation and harassment” against him and his interests.
