Donald Trump has made it clear that neither he nor SCOTUS can be held responsible for the overturning of Roe V. Wade. This one’s on God Almighty for divinely intervening. Following the Bible’s commands, SCOTUS kicked the issue up the heavenly ladder and waited for the answer. Then, without reluctance, and no matter how tumultuous they knew the road ahead would become, they accepted their impending persecution and willfully obeyed.
“God made the decision,” said Trump with a shrug. He was quick to point out how liberals, and even some conservatives, have overlooked the benefits of the overruling. “This brings everything back to the states where it has always belonged. This is following the Constitution, and giving rights back when they should have been given long ago.”
Trump’s been credited with setting the stage for what was to come by snagging three new appointees to the court during his term. Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett all cast votes in favor of overturning the law in a 5-4 decision.
Had Trump not chosen to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Anthony Kennedy with Kavanaugh and Barrett, the pendulum would have swung the other way.
Trump said in a statement that this decision and others that were recently made by SCOTUS, “were only made possible because I delivered everything as promised, including nominating and getting three highly respected and strong Constitutionalists confirmed to the United States Supreme Court,” and morality prevailed.
He added, “It was my great honor to do so.”
Trump understands how it took teamwork, time, and continuing faith to scrape abortion off of the federal plate. Former Presidents George W. Bush and his offspring George H.W. Bush respectively appointed Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas to the court.
It was Alito who authored the bill to overturn Roe V. Wade, followed by a written concurrence from Thomas.
Because abortion rights now fall in the lap of states, as they should, it only stands to reason how the political sway of each will determine which way the winds gonna blow. Some are already set to impose criminal penalties while others are saying “Come one, come all” to women seeking abortions, and many major U.S. corporations are willing to pay for their employees’ journeys.
Mike Pence hooped and hollered over the decision but then took it a step further than his former boss felt the need to go. Trump accomplished what he set out to do but Pence wants to keep abortion at the federal level and outlaw the practice nationally.
On Twitter, the former V.P. said, “Now that Roe v. Wade has been consigned to the ash heap of history… we must not rest and must not relent until the sanctity of life is restored to the center of American law in every state in the land.”
Considering how some conservatives don’t agree with what’s already been done, Pence finished off his chances of ever being the top dog of the land, not that he wouldn’t have been muzzled fairly quickly anyway.
The right decision was made but it may take a while for it to sink into the lamebrained heads of liberals who are slow to catch on. They can still splat their fetuses on the floor, they just have to do it in a liberal state where splatting remains acceptable moral behavior.
